Join me and Cynthia Haynes on Kenya’s Maasai Mara for an unforgettable photographic safari. This is not a Mentor Series Workshop, but a shared travel experience with other passionate photographers (maximum 14 participants plus me and Cynthia, sharing four open-sided Land Rovers with four photographers per vehicle.) This is one of my favourite places in the world, and this itinerary is one of the best I've experienced to date. The wildlife viewing is exceptional, and the photographic opportunities unparalleled.

January 11 - 19, 2018

USD $5900/person (double occupancy)

Here's the full itinerary:

January 11
EKA HOTEL, Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), a driver will take you to the nearby Eka Hotel for one night in a Superior Room. Breakfast on January 12 is included in your booking.

January 12 - 14
PORINI LION CAMP, Olare Motorogi Conservancy, Maasai Mara

After you've packed up and are ready to go, we'll meet in the main hotel restaurant for a delicious buffet breakfast, leaving immediately afterwards for the Mara! After a scenic 5-hour drive south to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve through picturesque highlands and the floor of the Rift Valley, we'll arrive at Porini Lion Camp in time for a late lunch. Settle in your tents and then head out in private open-sided 4x4 vehicles for your evening game drive in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, followed by a sundowner of drinks and snacks at a scenic spot on the Mara (weather permitting). Return to camp for a shower, dinner and overnight. We'll be at Porini for three nights, inclusive of full board accommodation, drinks, and activities. We'll spend our mornings and evenings on game drives, and our afternoons avoiding the sun while having a cold Tusker beer and probably talking about how we can change our lives and never leave.

January 15 - 18
MAHALI MZURI SAFARI CAMP, Olare Motorogi Conservancy

Following breakfast, depart for Sir Richard Branson’s Mahali Mzuri Safari Camp, arriving in time for lunch. Later, depart for our evening game drive before returning to camp for showers, dinner and overnight. We'll spend four glorious nights at this incredible all-inclusive camp. This is one of my favourite places ever, and I'm thrilled to share it with you!

January 19
DAYROOMS AT EKA HOTEL / DEPART

After a leisurely breakfast, drivers will take you to Olare airstrip for your Safarilink flight back to Nairobi, departing 11h00 arriving 12h20. A driver will meet you at Wilson Airport in Nairobi and take you back to the EKA Hotel for lunch. You'll be assigned a day room where you can rest, shower, or just spend quiet time. Our drivers will meet you in the lobby three hours prior to your flight to take you to JKIA (NBO) airport for your international flight home or to begin another adventure, perhaps gorilla trekking in Uganda or some beach time in Zanzibar.

Cost is USD $5900 per person, double occupancy, inclusive of airport transfers, eight nights accommodations, all park fees, meals, and bar beverages at both safari camps. Acceptance is by application only. Upon acceptance of your application, payment is due in full within 15 days. Trip fees are non-refundable. “David's Maasai Mara Workshop was truly the trip of a lifetime. Not only did I have amazing opportunities to see and photograph spectacular wildlife against stunning natural landscapes, I forged incredible friendships with a wonderfully-talented group of people. It was so much more than I could ever have imagined and, the experience, the friendships and The Mara will remain a very special memory in my heart for a long time to come. Thank you David for sharing your passion and your talent." ~ Susan Rogers, Maasai Mara 2017 Alumni

"I can't speak highly enough of this trip. Every aspect of the safari was absolutely excellent - from planning and logistics, to the camps we stayed in, the guides and drivers, the locations, not to mention David's patience, good humor, incredible photographic vision, and unceasing willingness to share his knowledge and help everyone learn and grow photographically and personally. One of the best trips I've taken in many years. “ ~ Dave Block, Maasai Mara 2017 Alumni

"If you are thirsty for one of the planet's blue-ribbon experiences, take a drink from the fire hose and travel to the Maasai Mara with David DuChemin. The experience of sharing this destination with him , along with the fellowship of other participants, exceeded  all expectations. It is perhaps not surprising that the photographic opportunities are simply magnificent, but they are amplified many times over by David's warmth, creativity, availability, and thoughtfulness. This was a truly inspiring journey." ~ Michael Gaudet, Maasai Mara 2017 Alumni
