"This is the safari I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I’ve been to Kenya’s Maasai Mara many times, but not with this kind of focus. This is going to be the trip of a lifetime.” ~ David duChemin

Join David photographing some of the planet’s most astonishing, and quickly disappearing, wildlife in one of the planet’s most beautiful places: Kenya’s Maasai Mara. This trip begins in Nairobi (arriving January 22) with a ½ day drive to the Mara. We will spend our first 3 nights on the Mara at Porini Lion Camp, and the last 4 nights will be spent at Richard Branson’s Malahe Mzuri Camp. Much of our days will be spent in open-sided Land Cruisers, 4 photographers to a vehicle, searching for, and photographing lions, cheetah, leopards, rhinoceros, and a host of other birds and mammals. Evenings will be spent around the fire or the meal table sharing stories, photographs, and laughter. This is not a formal workshop but there is plenty of time to talk shop and improve your craft. Non-photographers are welcome.

A few more details. On arrival in Nairobi on January 22 we will pick you up in Nairobi on arrival and transfer you to the very comfortable EKA Hotel. On January 23, after a breakfast by the pool and a briefing from David, we will drive to the Maasai Mara where we’ll be welcomed into Porini Lion Safari Camp, given time to settle in, get your gear ready, and make plans for the first game drive. The next 3 days will be spent looking for and photographing some of the most majestic animals on the planet under the watchful eye of experienced local guides and drivers.

The second set of 4 nights will be spent about an hour or two away in a different part of the Mara Conservancy, where we will enjoy different topography and wildlife at the world-class Mahale Mzuri Tented Camp as guests (paying guests, but guests all the same) of Sir Richard Branson. Both camps are in a community owned wildlife conservancy with excellent game viewing and access; and while we won’t be there during the great migration, which gets all the press, it also gets all the tourists and we will be there when it’s much quieter and we’re able to spend more time with the animals, uninterrupted. On January 30, fly back to Nairobi, enjoying a final meal together, before being transferred to the international airport for your flight home (arriving home on Jan. 31)

The 2017 Kenya Safari is USD $5,800 per person - Double Occupancy

All meals, accommodations, and transportation (within Kenya) are included, including alcoholic beverages at both camps. Not included are international travel, tips, souvenirs, and the recommended insurances for cancellation, travel medical, and evacuation. This Safari is limited to 14 participants only. For more information, please don’t hesitate to talk to us directly.

"Exploring the Maasai Mara with David was truly a life-altering experience, an overused term that I don't use lightly. David is generous with his time, knowledge and camaraderie which adds a ton of icing on an already beautiful cake."
~ Alan Lawrence, Maasai Mara Alumni 2016

"Going on a trip with David, one learns very quickly that David is passionate.  But he's not passionate about "his" photography, or even "your" photography.  He is passionate about your being able to get the photo that you makes you passionate.  And this was most amazing to me.  I know how to push the button.  But he challenged me, asking what is my story, what is my vision and what is my reason for taking this photograph.  Then David wants to help you take the  photograph that makes you most passionate about your own work.  This was an amazing experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life."
~Bruce Lewandoski, Maasai Mara Alumni 2016
