lou- it’s not likely that the presets would be compatible with LR3 as there was a major revision of the RAW processing engine between LR3 and LR4. Adobe calls it Process Version or PV for short. LR3 is PV 2010 and LR4 is PV 2012. The sliders have changed, some are gone completely, and the algorithms behind them have been completely rewritten. For example Clarity +30 looks very different in PV 2012 vs. PV 2010 even though it’s got the same name and value. All that being said, LR4 is a fantastic upgrade, definitely worth the $80 US price. -jeremy

The book – great!
I learned a few things I didn’t know about lightroom and the book is well written with good pictures.

The Presets – totally worthless!
I thought I would get some well thought out presets related to what the book talks about, but no – the presets literally just changes the exposure / contrast / clarity / saturation for you.
Why would you use a preset called “TB50 Saturation 100″ instead of just dragging the saturation to 100?

Don’t buy this bundle, buy the book and save $2.

God, this sucks. I am in Beijing and I can’t get into my PayPal account. I have almost all C&V books but I already missed the discount for last one and now it seems I am going to miss this one cuz of the damn BIG firewall of China. I know it is only 2 bucks but still it annoys me … I won’t be in a more civilized country until mid December … David, I really would love a solution please …

Just bought the book, and it is good for the price. But the extra 2 USD for the presets is totally wasted money! Honestly:

…

Thanks for accepting PayPal. It’s how I pay for all of my eBooks on-line and has served me well. I can’t tell you how many technical books I haven’t bought (Are you listening, O’Reilly?!?) because they wanted a credit card from me. Or Amazon payments. Or, worse, Google’s thing. (“Wallet”? “Checkout”?)

If your issue is that you need a PayPal account, I don’t think it’s needed to complete the purchase. After you click the PayPal payment button in the shopping cart, it takes you to a page. On that page you’ll see “Don’t have a PayPal Account? Pay as a guest now, sign up for PayPal later.”

I don’t think that you need to actually sign up, you can just pay and go on your way.

I would like to purchase your ebook however it ONLY accepts PayPal. I refuse to use this form of payment as PayPal has royally screwed me up in the past. The checkout area says you can use a credit card but REQUIRES you to create a PayPal account.
