This captivating and inspiring eBook is about taking composition past the so-called rules. It’s a thoughtful, practical book about the way we build our photographs within the constraint of the frame. Learn more.
Andrew S. Gibson moves past the traditional discussion of thirds by showing how a more holistic approach can turn a conventional rule into a powerful tool. The ebook explores important subjects like the creative use of balance and focal points, insights into how to shape a subject, and using aspect ratio to establish an ideal foundation for making photographs, and so much more!
The diagrams and creative exercises will provide you with the ideas and insights you need to compose more engaging photographs.
I’d love to buy this book. Could you make it available through Amazon, for their Kindle? Would anyone else like it for the Kindle? I don’t have a kindle, but I’d read it using the Kindle reader on my laptop. Thanks!
I, too, would like to know how many pages are in the book.
Did a quick review of the book on my blog…(http://www.photodmc.com/blog/2011/11/18/review-beyond-thirds.html)
A very enjoyable read in comparison to other books I’ve read on composition. Beautiful images too.
Please show me the content of the book. Thanks.
Sorry – I forgot: “Regeln oder nicht regeln” is in German of course.
If one really has learned his lessons he doesn’t have to think about it anymore. But Andrew S. Gibson furthermore is still able to explain the rule of thirds and when to break it.
If one likes to read a short post about The Golden Rule and this eBook including a Photoshop action to overlay a grid of The Golden Rule and The Golden Spiral, then visit my new blog:

The author starts by saying “I tend to operate on instinct and compose photos without thinking too much about it”. Well don’t write a book about composition. Because I want to learn about the subject from someone who has been thinking about composition and practicing so I get tips that are relevant.
He then went on saying that he read a lot about it. Is that all you need to write an ebook these days? Research.
Feel a little cheated so far.
This eBook does a great job of covering many aspects of composition, some new and some familiar. I had hoped for more creative exercises so I could recommend this to my students as a self driven creative tool.
Another helpful step in the lifelong journey that is called ‘Photography’… Thank you C & V for your fantastic insights…
Like the title suggests, this book is about moving past the rule of thirds in search of inspired images that draw the eye and capture the attention of the viewer. Craft & Vision eBooks generally challenge the status quo and force you outside of the rules, and this book is no exception.

Folks as usual Craft & Vision has given us another great read at an exceptional value. Rules are made to be broken and in Andrew S. Gibson’s latest ebook he gives you permission to do just that. Beyond Thirds – is an easy read with practical information and tips on how to get the most out of your images.

If you expect to learn about composition rules other then ubiquitous “rule of thirds”- “Beyond thirds” is probably not for you. But if you sometimes wonder about guiding the eye through the image and what is visual balance and how to compose with that in mind, intuitively- it might just be the right e-book for you. And it all for just $5.
(This is just a fragment of the review I wrote on my blog. You can read it here: http://bit.ly/vPfgiT. Check also reviews of other Craft & Vision books on e-books)

Sam – We used to use page-counts to market the content, but when we switched to spreads instead of pages, we decided not to. We pride ourselves on great content, whether that’s 30 spreads or 100. In this case it’s something like 34 spreads, the equivalent of 68 pages the way we used to do things. While we call these eBooks, the reality is they’re more like topical magazines.
Rajaram – The book was just released. There will be plenty of reviews within the coming days.
Thanks for the interest, folks. Sorry we’ve not given you all the info you need.
I too would like to know the number of pages
Have a look here for a quick review. (Google it with Bing?)
I agree it would be nice to have more bibliographic info, ie number of pages, etc…
Can you please post a link to any review of this ebook (maybe a dps one)?

I’m generally happy with the eBooks I purchase here. Still I think it would be helpful to know how many pages there are before I purchase.
